A <DEGREE OF LINEAR POLARIZATION> is a <PROPERTY> that is a <RATIO> between the radiant intensity or the luminous intensity observed through an ideal polarization when the polarizer is set so that the intensity transmitted is maximal, and I_1 is the intensity when the polarizer is set perpendicular to that direction
