PIPE RAM
Definition
A <PIPE RAM> is an <ARTEFACT> and a <RAM> that is located on a wells blow-out preventer stack, and is operated hydraulically to close in or shut in a well threatened with excessively high pressure. When actuated, the two elements of the closure mechanism come together to seal round a pipe in the BOP. It is called pipe ram because the ram closes on the pipe
