A <REACTOR START SPLIT PHASE MOTOR> is an <SPLIT PHASE MOTOR> in which the phase displacement results from additional inductive reactance in the main circuit, this additional reactance being short-circuited or otherwise made ineffective when the auxiliary circuit is opened.
