Definition
A <TUNNEL DIODE> is a <SEMICONDUCTOR DIODE> that is a two-terminal semiconductor device, consisting of a heavily doped p-n junction, which has negative resistance at low voltage due to quantum-mechanical tunnelling and is principally used as a high-speed switching device.
