A 'temporal region' plays a role analogous to that of a quantity: it is an entity to which multiple temporal datums may be assigned, such as 'observed', 'estimated', or 'calculated' duration values. This avoids treating time as a physical quality of an object while preserving a modelling style parallel to the quantity--datum pattern in IDO.
