A composite field with label "weight", a subfield for unit of measure, and a subfield for a numeric value for recording the mass of the datasheet subject; a field labelled "coating" with a subfield for recording the coating type of the datasheet subject; an unlabelled field that provides the title of the datasheet; a field labelled "operating conditions" to indicate the start of a topical datasheet section.
A datasheet datum will often be used to represent a semantic relationship in reified form. We use the term "proto-semantic" to informally describe the purpose of this kind of representation: a typical datasheet datum of interest contains information that motivates the introduction of semantic axioms.
The use of "elementary" in the definition of 'datasheet datum' means that any part of a datasheet datum fails to express a full a assertion. Thus, if a datum reads "Linesize out 0.5 inch", neither of "Linesize out", "0.5", and "inch" expresses a statement on its own.
